Asia Pacific Dance Explosion 2008

I was in KL on the 20th Jul 2008 for this dance competition. Me and my student were in the Belly Dance Troupe event. We just wanted to gain experience.... all firstimer in competition.... BUT to our suprise.... we won CHAMPION!!!!! we are happy and suprise... very suprise.

We spent so much time in training and also our costume. I have to teach all of them on how to make costume. So as you can see we have all similar but diferrent costume. I prefer it this way cause it will be more interesting than all the same.

Our event was at night. Other competiton has already stated since the day before. Line dancing, Hip-hop, etc.... We were so nervous when we were there. But we manage to pull it through... well, i did some mistake :p but who cares.....

It was real tired trip but it is worth it.... well, the money we got is not even enough for our costume but its about the fun and experience.... well, mayb I ll consider joining next year but not sure yet.

will try to load pictures and video soon....

Food....eat, eat, eat .....

Again..... good food, good wine, good companion....

It was a food weekend for me.

Saturday.....

Its my 1st anniversary with Alan... Not really long but we had a great year together. He wanted to throw a surprise dinner for me but his friend, Yong with his big mouth blur it out on Friday. But Alan still don't want to tell me where we are going. So I thought its just a normal family dinner and I just bring my favourite jeans with a sexy top. But luckily I always have an emergency dress around. So I only know about his dinner on Saturday and we were going to E&O hotel, 1885. Its a nice place... and I would think jeans is too informal for that place. So luckily I had my dress... hahaha! You all know how vain I am.....

So we had a nice dinner there with two of his best friend, Sam & Yong with their wife. We had a nice champagne (Alfred Rothschild) and some real good wines ( Villa Maria Chardonnay & Alter Ego de Palmer 2004).

Alan trying out his salad making method....

We really had fun.....

Sam & Nonie

Yong & Peggy

Sunday Lunch

Another family lunch at Red Rock Hotel. Alan's brother from Ireland was here with his girlfriend. So we had a big lunch with Alan's mum, Sam & Yong family and some friends of Alan's mum. It was a great lunch cause the food is really good. We had this Yam pot (yam, fist meat, pork), curry prawns, tofu, vegetable, Seafood pot (sea cucumber, scallop, etc), bitter gout, Mango chicken. Really nice food.... another place highly recommended... I ll try to load the pictures of the food later. its in Yong's camera....

Sunday Dinner
We had another heavy dinner in Starview Prai. It was organize by Lisa, the owner of the restaurant. Invited are the Island Hospital doctors with their wife, Sam, Yong and wife plus me and Alan.

The food was really amazing.... we had the 4 seasons (fresh scallop, sharkfin ommelette, ....cant remember the other 2...). Next came the sharkfin in big prawn with crab meat ( the sharkfin is not those shredded ones but a whole piece stuff into the big prawns... with lots of crab meat). Then came the Duck dumpling (Glutinous rice stuff in roasted duck). Next is Steam fish (huge Garupa.... in chinese its called dragon pearl). Then came the Mexican Abalone. Next vegetable and lastly dessert.... I was full till the neck.....
will try to load those yumy food photos soon.....

So imagine all those food in my stomach for this weekend.....

I really have to go on diet for this whole week....

My trip to LOndon, Paris and Switzerland, 13 Feb 2008 - 30 Mar 2008

Departed from Penang on 13th Feb....transit in Bangkok. Arrived Bangkok at 8 in the morning, flight to Zurich is at 12 midnight. So got lots of time for shopping.... we went to The Central... shopping.... Then back to airport....

Yeah u will think its romantic to be in the plane on Valentines Day. But the 14 hours flight was not romantic... it was real tiring. I cant sleep, so watched movies all the way...

Arrived in Zurich.... Cold .... well, its my first winter encounter. Have to rush to the toilet to wear another pair of pants, jumper.... reminds me of "Bak-Chang" (rice dumpling). Haha! I should have taken a picture of myself then....

Took the train to Basel (that's where Alan stays). Well, the train there is really clean and nice and fast. Not like our KTM.... no way.... it only takes an hour to reach Basel.... Then took the taxi to get home....I really like Switzerland cause its really safe and clean. And peaceful too.

UK Encounter

We left to England the next day. Alan's friend, Paul, his daughter is getting married. So we were there to attend her wedding. I have never met them. But she is real pretty cause the mum is English and dad is Chinese. She is really young too. Only 21. So we arrived Luton then took a train to Northampton shire.... small cute village. Hang out at the house then went back to hotel. Wedding was next day. Its my first time again wedding in winter, and also English wedding. So i don't really know what to wear.... I had this long black skirt with a nice corset. But it was so cold I had to wear two pantyhose. But still cold mad. So next time no more skirts. Have to wear pants. Wedding at the church then to the house for dinner. We were so jet-lag, by 8.30 all of us (the whole table is Malaysian who just arrive the day before) were nodding off..... So we actually went back even before the dancing started.... anyway... i was still feeling too cold.... its really great to be back in bed under those thick blankets...

We left to London the next day with another of Alan's friend, Hanif and girlfriend, SuLing. I am still not used to the cold... I really look like a dumpling.... For the next few days, we went round London... London Bridge, Piccadilly Square, Harrods & Oxford St (shopping la), Birmingham Palace, Hyde park,.... etc. Its fun to go on those double decks... I just love those daffodils.... so pretty.....

Then we went to the wax museum.... we had fun... check out our pictures with the stars....

Hey, Angelina , I think Brad Pitt looks better with me....hahaha!

We also went for The Lion King....

Well, I dont really like London much... too cold... too squarish... abit dull for me....

Tour de PAris....

Then we departed to pAris.... I just love this place...

I brought the Lonely Planet book for Paris. Its really good cause we manage to get cheap tickets, went to the best restaurant, lots of info about all the interesting places... So this time its my turn to be the tour guide....

Arrived late about 11 pm... pAris or i can say France was totally asleep by then.... ok la... those pervert still around at the red light district but other parts were all asleep... So we had trouble to get to the hotel or even out from the subway.... all doors were close.... We manage to at last. But adventure didn't end yet.... we booked the hotel thru the internet... nice pictures, average price.... but went we arrived.... it was like a haunted house with no lift. My luggage was about 20 kg. So the poor guy there have to carry my huge bag up to the 5th floor. The room was so small, with a even smaller toilet.... i am small, so its fine, i could not imagine those huge size mat-salleh to fit into the toilet..... We paid in the internet for two nites so no choice but to suffer for two days.... We manage to find a nice hotel the next day.... for the same price... so no more internet bookings without recommendation....

Paris.... here we come.....Opera, Champs Elysees, The Louve, Eiffel Tower, Northedam, Latin Quarters, .....etc... we actually manage to visit most of the famous places in 6 days.... We purchased this museum pass which enable us to go the most of the museum for a very reasonable price... my favourite is still The Louve. Its so huge that it took us the whole day there. But still we didn't mange to look at every art pieces there... well, i still look prettier than Monalisa.....

Me...or Monalisa?
for more pictures.....http://picasaweb.google.com/jeswooi/Paris2008

My most memorable is still those shows... we went to Moulin Rouge and Crazy Horse. We went Moulin Rouge first....Cabaret Show.... long legs, pretty girls, topless....I expected more actually.... Ok la... better than those in Penang but hey we paid alot for Moulin Rouge....

Crazy Horse was much better.... cheesier but nice.... Its not the traditional Cabernet Show. Its actually very arty with lots of lighting and effects... girls are prettier (bigger bobs too) hahaha! Aiya.... i am also a pervert- female version..... striping done in a tasty way.... Nice... highly recommended....

Ahhhhh.... forgot to tell you all about those sex shops.... There are lots of sex shops in Moulin Rouge area. So while waiting for the show to start we manage to visit the biggest sex shop next to it.... yeah.... lots of funny stuff... a lot of vibrators in different sizes, colors and even texture.... so funny. A lot of props too... whip anyone? hahaha..... its fun but dare not buy anything cause shy la... later got caught in Malaysian Airport.... Malu la..

Wine and food... we manage to visits some of the recommended restaurants and cafe.... very well recommended by the book. But some are so stuck-up, need reservation 2 months before.... could you believe that and the restaurant was not even full...

We had some nasty encounter with those Parisian... so they call themselves.... But not too bad cause Alan can speak some french... if its me alone... dead meat... The younger Parisian are speaking English nowadays... so not so bad....

Romantic? OK la.... But don't imagine too much cause those on movies are with add on music and effects la... Not so romantic if you step on those dog shit.... my advise.... Paris is beautiful, but look at where you are stepping cause there are lots ( I mean ALOT) of dog poo poo all over the place. So be careful.

Back to Switzerland.....

Back to safe and clean country.....

My main purpose for this trip is to help Alan to move house. He is moving from this huge apartment to this tiny studio. Save money la......and also more manageable since he don't stay there all the time.

Let me tell you about his apartment....

There were a entrance room, living room, dinning room, kitchen (with lots of cabinets), 2 bed room, 2 bathroom. That's upstairs. Downstairs a huge study (with ALOT of cabinets), a cellar, a laundry room and a gardening or store room..... And he was (still is) a real collector.... some people just don't throw things away, even useless stuff.... And Alan is one of those people.... so imagine his 60 years of collections plus his fathers collection.... So much junks.....

And my job is to throw most of those away......i had a had time cause i have to fight with him to throw things away..... It took us a whole month to pack and throw things away.... well, the packing was difficult cause we have to pack thing for his new studio, then those to be put to storage (they have very good storage facilities here) and also things to be given away.... In Switzerland you have to pay for your rubbish. Even things that you want to give away for recycle, have to pay. Rubbish car only comes twice a week, you have to put rubbish in the correct bags they sell and have to put stamp on it. Have to purchase those stamps la.... you think like here.... throw whatever you want, anytime, anywhere .... Recyclable items have to be put into special bins in in area. Big item, furniture, clothes, etc have special days of throwing. Some still have to pay..... so be happy with our rubbish collecting system here.... FREEE.... Sometime get money for selling recycle item.... There you need to pay to give things away... so weird....
We have to plan really well on what to put into the the studio cause it wont feed all his furniture.... I have to draw out the plan of the house.....etc.... I manage to pack most of his things and organize it. Alan was really freaking out when it was about time to move and me being not around when he move... Ok... this is the plan at first.... I ll help him pack then move to his new place BUT he can only move in a day after i left.... So he was all alone in the moving.... But i already pack all his things and label it properly so that the movers will do it as planned. Alan was really stress out. He loose so much weight and also his big tummy.... But he manage it at last....
During the month in Switzerland, I have a friend, Evelyn from Penang who came to visit for a few days. So we went to the snow mountain (Grindewald) and also to the Black Forest in Germany.

Grindewald..... just about an hour drive from Basel. We drove there in the morning. Took the bus up the top then sledge down. Its really interesting cause you have to sledge down on the same path as the bus uses. The bus has this funny sounding horn, so that you have to jump out of your sledge and stay at the side of the road when the bus comes.... Its scary actually.

Its my first time sledging, I was on the double sledge with Alan ( I was not manoeuvring it but I contribute by screaming my lungs out.....hahaha!!!!). Its scary at first cause it actually goes really fast and the path is not straight. So you have to corner and most of the time we ended knocking in tho the snow at the side.... Its fun but painful cause we fell down a few times.... on our butt and also like superman, flying over the sledge....Its real funny.... But i had some real good screaming session....

For pictures......http://picasaweb.google.com/jeswooi/Switzerland2008

Black Forest, Germany.... Basel is at the edge of the Black Forest. I m still not so sure why they call this place Black Forest, But i think its because its full of pine trees. So its actually quite a contrast especially during winter with the black trees and white snow.... Its a big area in Germany and consist of lots of cities and villages. So we went to search for the biggest Cuucoo Clock in the world. Its in a small village... which we had a hard time searching for.... but we managed at last.... But we didnt buy any of theose clocks.... it will drive me crazy with its' cuucoo-ing every hour and half hour.
The biggest Cucoo clock in the world.... It's situated in a little village ( just cant remember the name, but will add once remember) in The Black Forest. Its not really big to me cause I expected more, again. The doors were lock, so we tried to climb in just to take photos. But a lady was shouting at us from the house next to it.... its funny cause we dont understand what she was saying. Actually, she was the caretaker of the place. She is on lunch break. So she opened the gate for us but charged us money as well.... ok la... not expensive. Since drove all the way, have to go in also.

We had some fun in Switzerland. We had dinners with friends and we went out drinking. We really had fun in those girlie-bars...haha! Sexy girls... I had fun in the snow too. Basel seldom snow but it snow twice when I was there. Its already spring but it snow. Those poor flowers....

Well, most of time was spent on packing.... But it was fine cause we spend time together. I love the weather and the clean fresh air there. I am looking forward to my next trip there soon....

Belly dancer with too much wines and food.....

"I'm fat. I have to diet"... thats my favourite phase. But i never do it because I have too much good food and great wines..... yes... i m very lucky. These are some of the wine dinners and tasting in past 2 weeks....

Wolfblass Wine dinner @ E&O Hotel, 16 May 2008

Gate Crasher, my friends said cause i am at my competitors (Wine Shop) wine dinner. But i never though of it this way. I am there to have some good wine and a nice dinner with my boyfriend and friends.... Wine ok, food ok. Food not as good as the last time i was there. And lots of meat, which i dont eat. Alan is drunk, i think after the second course. Then have to look for him in the toilet..... embarassing.... I have to shout out his name at the toilet door cause i worry if i walk in the mens toilet, somebody's with his pants down will be shock. I dont care, what is there to see....hahaha!

We had fun....

Villa Marria Wine @ Dinner Equatorial Penang, 20th May 2008

Another wine dinner by competitors (Asia Euro), wines from New Zealand.... I like the whites. But not really the reds....

Food ok only cause too much meat again, venison, lamb and beef, all those i dont eat. But nice companion.... Alan is not drunk this time. But Sam Yong is drunk. So cute. And also Dr. Hwang, she is drunk cause she wont let us drive home. So we have to leave a car in the carpark and went home. But after she drop us, we have to go back to collect the car. Luckly its in EQ, so its near. Well, great fun....
